Lake Wister
Lake Wister 10 miles NE of Poteau. The area around Wister Lake has been inhabited for thousands of years. Numerous mounds created by the prehistoric Native Americans still exist in the area. Visitors to Wister Lake will find a variety of sightseeing opportunities to enjoy. This man-made lake offers many opportunities for outdoor fun and sports. Robert S. Kerr Lake & Reservoir
For young and old alike Kerr Lake offers a variety of recreation, from swimming on the many beaches to picnicking in one of the nine park areas. Facilities include boat launching ramps, electric/water hookups, picnic areas, drinking water, shower facilities and sanitary facilities. Robert S. Kerr Lake provides excellent opportunities for fishing and hunting. Principles species of fish in the lake include channel catfish, flathead catfish, white crappie, largemouth bass, striped bass, walleye and various sunfish species.
